The holiday season is a time where people find themselves making poor financial choices. Despite what you might think, you can still get a great gifts for friends and family without breaking the bank.
In this month's blog we look into how you can make it through the Christmas season and not worry about potential debt in the new year.
Tip #1: Set a Budget
Set a budget for how much you to plan to spend on gifts, food, entertainment etc. during this holiday season. You can go as far as setting a limit per gift to help you stay on track.
Tip #2: Don't use Credit
It's easy to get carried away with your shopping when you're using a credit card. With credit cards interest can build up on those purchases and cost you much more. Instead of using your credit card to purchase gifts use cash, or your bank card. The money will immediately leave your account and you don't have to worry about interest.
Tip #3: Look out for Sales
During this season a lot of stores will have sales, take an opportunity to look through the papers and through flyers to see if anything you plan on purchasing will be on sale.
Tip #4: Make a List
Making a list is a huge benefit! Keep a detailed list of who you are shopping for, and stick to it! By seeing exactly how many people you need to buy for you can see how much you should be spending in total during the holiday season.
Tip #5: Start Early!
The most important tip when dealing with holiday shopping is to start early! By starting early you prevent rushing around last minute and buying whatever you can. When you start early you have time to find great deals, and you have a chance to plan out your holiday spending in an effective way.
Tip #6: Get Creative
Homemade gifts come from the heart! Making something special for the ones you love maybe more cost effective and they will appreciate it more
We hope these tips help you as we quickly approach the holiday season!
